YOUR INTERVIEW WITH
GREENER CROP
Your interview with Greener Crop has been scheduled, and we would like to help you prepare for a successful interview!
Please take your time to read through our introduction & tips section, to learn about what you can expect in our interview process.
Q: HOW ARE INTERVIEWS CONDUCTED?
A: The interviews will take place in two rounds and will be held on Microsoft Teams.
In your first interview, we will explain the Greener Crop concept to you in more detail. We will then be looking to learn more about your experience, but also your communication skills, your attitude, and your motivation for applying to Greener Crop. We will also ask a few administrative questions about your start date and visa requirements.
It's then your turn to ask your questions. We really enjoy this part, so don't hold back.
If your first interview went well, you will be invited to a second and final interview. If you have not already spoken with our CEO, you will meet him in this call. The second interview is an independent second assessment, and we may ask similar questions as in the first interview. If you are interviewing for a farm management role, please expect to be asked some detailed questions about your most recent operations.
Q: WHO WILL INTERVIEW YOU?
A: You will likely be speaking to one of these three managers at Greener Crop:
Darine Roumi:
Role: Project Manager
Background: Agricultural Engineer
Languages spoken: Arabic & English
Maria Achkar:
Role: Head of Business Development
Background: Agrifood Engineer
Languages spoken: Arabic, English & French
Alexander Kappes:
Role: CEO
Background: B2C Technology & Investments
Languages spoken: English & German
Q: HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE INTERVIEW?
A: Familiarize yourself with Greener Crop and your interviewer.
You should be familiar with what we do, what our mission and vision are, and who the person you're interviewing with is.
Prepare yourself by
1) Researching Greener Crop
2) Looking up your interviewer on LinkedIn
3) Preparing a brief summary (less than 5min) of your relevant previous experience
4) Summarizing your motivation to join Greener Crop and why you are suited for this role
5) Preparing a few questions that you'd like to ask during the interview
6) Make sure you have Microsoft Teams installed and updated
Q: DO INTERVIEWS INVOLVE CASE STUDIES OR BRAIN TEASERS?
A: For senior roles, you may be asked to prepare a case study, but we don't ask brain teasers.
We like to keep our interviews casual and friendly. You won't have to expect routine interview questions such as "what are your strengths and weaknesses". In return, we want to meet the real you, so please don't answer our questions with routine answers. For most questions there is no "right" or "wrong" answer - we're asking to find out whether you know your work, and whether you'd be a good fit for our team.
Q: WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE?
A: Once we've confirmed that your job skills meet our requirement, we'll want to know if we'd enjoy working with you.
We're a young company thats growing quickly. As a result, we often find ourselves having to manage multiple responsibilities and having to learn more about a new subject in a short time. We're looking for people who enjoy that kind of environment.
Our favorite candidates are confident in their skills, interested in what we do, passionate about the field they're in, ambitious to grow in their new role, and not afraid to go out of their comfort zone.
Q: WHAT ARE DEAL BREAKERS?
A: We operate farms for our clients - anything that may affect communication with our clients will be an issue.
The most common reason candidates don't progress to the next round is their English skills. We fully appreciate that English isn't everyone's first language, but we need our candidates to be able to express themselves confidently, concisely, and in a business-appropriate manner.
Other deal breakers are:
-
Professionalism - personal opinions about politics, religion, gender, etc. should remain personal
-
Punctuality - candidates should be on the call at least a few minutes before the call starts
-
Attitude - interviews should be constructive and positive
-
Lack of interest - not asking questions in an interview can be seen as a lack of interest in the company or the role
Q: WHEN WILL YOU HEAR BACK?
A: This sometimes depends on the role - but your interviewer will give you a deadline.
Regardless of whether you will be offered a job, moved to the next round, or sadly not considered, you will hear back from us in the timeline specified by your interviewer.
Q: WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT WORKING FOR GREENER CROP?
A: No two days are the same, and no door is closed for you.
You'll never get bored and never be denied a chance to grow. We love that we're solving a real problem in the world by enabling the development of farms in areas where conventional farming isn't possible.
Agriculture is incredibly diverse, and each farm and crop brings new challenges and opportunities. Our team needs to respond to those challenges quickly, always prioritizing our client's business. Because of this, you'll constantly be learning new skills, expanding your professional network, and taking on different responsibilities.
Anytime we find that we weren't 100% prepared for a challenge or an opportunity, this is your chance to step up. By working on the solution, you will be in the best position to take over this role and grow your career within Greener Crop.
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR INTERVIEW!
